Blog confession: The other day when I passed Shepard Fairey’s May Day mural on Bowery and Houston in New York, I was less than pleased to see that it had been tagged. The culprit was Paul Richard and when I took a closer look at what he left behind, it brought a smile to my face. I visited the wall again to see what the response to Richard’s “improvement” was, and I was horrified to see that it had been tagged by a really uninteresting graffiti artist. Flash forward to a few days later when I am on my way to an art opening in Chelsea and I see Paul Richard’s latest work, just sitting out on the street. I instantly fell in love. Jocelyn Wildenstein aka the Cat Woman, immortalized for all to see. Genius, according2g. I’ll bet that one of the two following things happened: 1) Some art wanker stole the painting that was just out there for the taking or 2) Paul Richard was on the top of a building somewhere nearby watching everyone react to his latest work. I’m hoping it was #2. I’m also hoping he took video of the event! It was quite a site to behold.
